Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance Services, Stephanie Ellison, announced Thursday that Courtney Vinson has joined the Clemson Athletic Department as the Director of Compliance Services. Vinson was most recently an Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of Akron.
Vinson will be responsible for ensuring compliance of the athletics operation most directly regulated by NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules. Vinson’s duties will include assisting with day-to-day compliance functions, new employee orientation, coordinating the NCAA certification exam for athletics department personnel, and overseeing the initital eligibility process for incoming student-athletes.
As an Assistant Director of Compliance at Akron, Vinson was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day compliance operations of 11 of the 17 varsity teams. She served on various committees dedicated to improving academic standards and the student-athlete experience at Akron.
Prior to her work at Akron, Vinson earned a Master’s in Athletic Administration at Marshall University and completed her undergraduate work at Florida A&M, earning a degree in Journalism in 2003. Vinson was a four year letter winner with the Florida A&M Women’s track and field team, serving as co-captain her senior season.
