Dennis Love

Position: Assistant Football Strength & Conditioning Coach

Dennis Love returned to Clemson in January 2022, rejoining the football program as an assistant football strength and conditioning coach. The 2023 season will be his 13th serving Clemson student-athletes across his two tenures.

The strength and conditioning veteran of two decades served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Auburn for the 2021 season after a four-year stint as the associate director of football strength & conditioning at Purdue from 2017-20. He spent the 2015-16 seasons as an assistant strength & conditioning coach with the Denver Broncos, helping the franchise to victory in Super Bowl 50. During his time in Denver, he oversaw the Broncos’ quarterback annual performance training, working with Peyton Manning in his final season, and he helped guide Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and cornerback Chris Harris to first- and second-team All-Pro selections.

Love spent 11 years at Clemson from 2004-14, including the final four as the director of Olympic sports strength & conditioning. During his time as director, he oversaw the strength & conditioning for 14 Olympic sports while serving as the head strength coach for the baseball, men’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams. In his first season working with the baseball program in 2010, Clemson advanced to the College World Series and finished third nationally in the final polls. He also assisted with the football program, working primarily with the defensive line and skill positions and designing an NFL combine-specific program for student-athletes seeking opportunity in the professional ranks.

Love began his career at the Athletes Performance Institute in Tempe, Ariz., for one year as a performance specialist intern. He then transitioned to collegiate athletics in 2002, spending two years at his alma mater, Catawba College, in Salisbury, N.C., where he had been a two-sport athlete in football and baseball and earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation in 2000.

A native of Cheraw, S.C., Love is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the National Association of Speed and Explosion and United States Weightlifting, and he is a Certified Football Performance Specialist. He also holds a master’s degree in counselor education obtained from Clemson in 2008.
