Clemson’s Lori Ashton Earns ACC Volleyball Player Of The Week Honors

Clemson middle hitter Lori Ashton earned ACC Volleyball Player of the Week honors after leading Clemson to two conference victories. The sophomore from Waldorf, MD, hit .538 with 17 kills in 26 attempts in Clemson’s 3-0 win over NC State, while posting 15 kills, a career-best seven digs and a season-high seven blocks in the Tigers’ 3-2 victory over Florida State. Ashton’s .538 hitting percentage against the Wolfpack marked the seventh time this season that she has recorded a hitting percentage of .500 or better.

Ashton also led the Tigers against 11th-ranked North Carolina with 21 kills and six blocks, taking the Tar Heels to five games before falling 15-17 in the decisive game. Over the week, she averaged 4.08 kills per game, 1.15 blocks per game and 1.08 digs per game, while contributing 0.31 assists and 0.15 service aces per game.

Ashton and the Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct. 11 as Clemson plays host to Georgia Tech in a 7:00 PM match at Jervey Gym. Admission is free to all Clemson home volleyball matches.
