Feb. 7, 2005

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Julie Coin was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week after posting a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles action at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships this past weekend. This week’s Performer of the Week accolade is the eighth since 2002 for Coin.

Coin posted a straight set victory over Kentucky’s Aibika Kalsarieva, ranked No. 7 nationally, at the top singles flight. Coin allowed just one game to Kalsarieva winning 6-0, 6-1. In doubles action, Coin partnered with Alix Lacelarie for an 8-2 doubles win over 11th ranked Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk.

Against No. 4 UCLA, Coin and Lacelarie teamed up again and registered an 8-3 victory over the Bruins’ McGoodwin and Zalameda to give the Tigers the early match advantage. Then the senior from Amiens, France defeated No. 9 Riza Zalameda 6-3, 6-2 to guide Clemson to the 4-3 match win over UCLA.

Coin and the Tigers are back in action this weekend as they head to Texas to take on Baylor and TCU on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
