Clemson’s Jason Meany To Compete At USA Cross Country Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson senior Jason Meany will compete at the USA Cross Country Championships to be held Feb. 15-16 in Houston, TX. The senior from Liverpool, NY will vie for a spot on the 2003 national team that will compete at the IAAF World Cross Country Championship in Lausanne, Switzerland. The top six finishers from the Open and Junior divisions will be selected to the national team. Meany will compete in Saturday’s 4K race, to be contested on the legendary Buffalo Bayou course. Saturday’s 4K field boasts 72 athletes, including professional runners from Asics, Nike and Adidas, as well as from the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force and US Marines.

Meany was the 2002 Southeast Region Cross Country champion, and competed at the NCAA National Championships, placing 48th of 254 runners. He was also named the Southeast Region Runner of the Year, and was a member of the 2002 All-ACC team.
