GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Danielle Hepburn, a senior middle blocker from Miami, Fla. was chosen today as the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to consecutive league wins.
On Friday, Hepburn recorded 10 kills and seven blocks in Clemson’s 3-0 sweep over Wake Forest. She improved on those numbers a day later in the 3-1 win over Duke. Hepburn had 18 kills and six blocks. Over the weekend, she averaged 4.00 kills per set and hit at a .455 clip to raise her season average to 3.71 kills per game. Entering the series, each of the Tigers’ opponents allowed less than 2.0 blocks per set. Hepburn proceeded to take care of that herself as she blocked 1.86 per set, over half of Clemson’s 3.14 weekend average. She also raised her season average to 1.54 blocks per set, the highest in the ACC.
Clemson will now take to the road, to face Boston College and Maryland. The Tigers will face the Eagles on Friday night before heading south to visit the Terrapins on Sunday afternoon. The weekend’s games will start at 5 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
