National Indoors Rd. 2 Draw

FLUSHING, NY – Clemson’s top-ranked duo of Josipa Bek and Keri Wong were ousted at the 2011 USTA/ITA Indoor National Doubles Championships by Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria of Southern California, 8-6, on Friday. The matches took place at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.

The match came in the quarterfinals of the tournament, as the Tigers had earned a bye into the round of 16 and defeated Nicole Bartnik and Crystal Leung of host Columbia, 8-2 on Thursday.

Bek and Wong were vying to get back to the finals of the tournament as they had a year ago, but Christian, whom Bek and Wong beat in the NCAA Doubles Final Four a season ago, got revenge with an 8-6 win on Friday.

The loss drops Bek and Wong to 9-3 on the season and snapped a six match win streak, which included a successful defense of the ITA Carolina Region Title.

The team will conclude fall action at the Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Classic in Florida next week.
