Clemson Women’s Track And Field To Host Clemson Invitational This Weekend

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team will host the 2003 Clemson Invitational this weekend at the Rock Norman Track Complex. The Lady Tigers will face a field that includes teams from Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Iowa State and Miami (Ohio). Saturday’s meet will begin with the women’s pole vault and javelin throw at 11:15 AM. The first running event scheduled for the women is the 3000m steeplechase slated for 1:15 PM. On the track, the Lady Tigers will begin competition with Jennifer Barton, Jennifer Barton and Jennifer Barton and Casey Phillips and Jennifer Hooten will contest the 5000m, then the Lady Tigers’ 4x400m relay team will conclude the meet at 5:35 PM.

The field events will begin at 11:15 AM with Keshia Haughton. The long jump is scheduled for 1:15 PM, and Ramera Nero, Kellie Sutton, Angela Thomas, Krystal Woods will represent Clemson in the discus throw at 2:30 PM, and Gisele Oliveira and Reah Nicholson will compete in the triple jump at 3:15 PM. The high jump is scheduled for 3:30 PM, and Clemson’s Gisele Oliveira and Allison Bradshaw and Lauren Nicholson will compete in the shot put, the final field event scheduled for the meet.

The Clemson Invitational will also feature seven elementary schools competing in the annual Clemson Elementary Relays. This week’s third, fourth and fifth-grade teams are from Clemson Elementary, Code Elementary, Fair Oak Elementary, James M. Brown Elementary, Fair Oak Elementary, Walhalla Elementary and Westminster Elementary. The 8×75 yard relay for the third-graders is scheduled for 1:50 PM, the fourth-grade race will begin at 3:00 PM, and the fifth-graders will compete at 3:50 PM.
