CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Clemson women’s track and field team finished fourth at the 2002 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships held this weekend at the Dick Taylor Track in Eddie Smith Field House. Georgia Tech won the team title with 122 points, while North Carolina finished third with 113 points and NC State was third (78.5). Clemson scored 73 points to finish fourth, Virginia and Florida State tied for fifth with 63 points. Maryland posted a seventh-place finish with 62 points, while Wake Forest was eighth with 36.5 points and Duke was ninth (13).
Silja Ulfarsdottir finished fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.69, and Randi Hinton placed sixth (24.74). In the 400m, Ulfarsdottir recorded a time of 55.14 to finish third, and Randi Hinton was fifth in 56.24. Perry Fields scored for the Lady Tigers in the one mile run with seventh-place finish in 4:50.94. Clemson’s 4x400m relay team of Hinton, Ulfarsdottir, Murray and Fields finished fifth with a time of 3:50.42.
Sheri Smith garnered All-ACC honors in the triple jump with her third-place finish (41’5.25″). Joana Costa finished 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 35’4.5″.
