Clemson Women’s Tennis To Play Host To Virginia Tech And Virginia

CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger women’s tennis team, ranked 13th nationally, will play host to Virginia Tech and #20 Virginia at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center this week. Clemson will face the Hokies (10-4, 1-2 ACC) at 11:00 am on Saturday and then take on the Cavaliers (10-2, 3-0 ACC) at noon on Sunday.

The Tigers (10-5, 2-1 ACC) are led by Ani Mijacika, the nation’s top singles player, who boasts a 2-5 record for the fall and spring seasons combined. The junior from Makarska, Croatia owns wins over five players currently ranked in the top 10 and has 14 against ranked players overall. She is joined at the top of the lineup by rookie Estefania Balda.

Saturday’s match against Virginia Tech will be the 13th meeting in history between the two schools. Clemson defeated the Hokies by a 6-1 margin last season to improve to 9-3 all-time in the series score. The Tigers swept the Cavaliers’ in the 2008 meeting and own a dominant 30-4 advantage over Virginia in a series that dates back to 1978.
