March 17, 2007

CLEMSON, SC – The #7 Tiger women’s tennis team, winner of its last five matches, will play its final non-conference match of the 2007 season, as Clemson (11-2) will match up against Troy University (7-2) in Charleston, SC on Sunday afternoon. The teams will play at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center on Daniel Island at 1:00 pm.

The Tigers and Trojans have met just two prior times on the court with Clemson as the victor in both matches. The Tigers won a 4-0 decision against Troy in the 2004 NCAA regionals on their home court, the opening-round contest of their first Final Four run. The two teams then met last season in Mobile, AL with Clemson capturing a 5-2 victory.

Ani Mijacika, Federica van Adrichem and Estefania Balda are all riding five-match singles winning streaks for the Tigers as the trio has lost just a combined six decisions in the spring season. Mijacika and van Adrichem, the nation’s 12th-ranked doubles team, have also paired up for a 9-2 record, claiming their last six matches at the top position.
