CLEMSON, SC – The eighth-ranked Tiger women’s tennis team will hold its final home matches of the 2007 regular season this weekend, as Duke and North Carolina will be in town. Clemson (13-3, 4-1 ACC) will face the #20 Blue Devils (9-3, 4-0 ACC) on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center before playing host to the 13th-ranked Tar Heels at noon on Sunday. The Clemson-North Carolina singles matches are scheduled to be broadcast over the Internet on www.ACCSelect.com, starting at approximately 1:00 pm.

Although the Tigers suffered just their third loss of the season last weekend, freshman Ani Mijacika extended her singles winning streak to eight straight with victories over Florida State and Miami. She remained undefeated in league play at 5-0 and improved her overall record to 18-5.

Duke leads the overall series score against Clemson by a 23-15 margin and has edged the Tigers, 8-7, in matches played at Hoke Sloan. The Blue Devils claimed last season’s match-up by a 6-1 margin in Durham, NC, but Clemson posted a 5-2 victory in the schools’ last meeting on its home court in 2005.

The Tigers have won their last six matches over North Carolina and hold a 33-12 advantage overall. In the 2006 season, Clemson edged the Tar Heels, 4-3, in Chapel Hill, NC and then defeated North Carolina for a second time just 12 days later at the ACC Tournament in Cary, NC. The teams last met in Clemson, SC in the 2005 season when the Tigers posted a 5-2 victory.
