Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Play Host to Alabama in Exhibition Game Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will play host to Alabama in an exhibition game on Saturday evening.  The game between the Tigers and Crimson Tide is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM at Historic Riggs Field.  Admission is free for all home women’s soccer games.

In his second year at the helm of the program, head coach Eddie Radwanski‘s team returns 12 letterwinners, including seven starters, and welcomes eight newcomers for the 2012 season.  Forward Maddy Elder returns for her senior campaign, having led the team in scoring each of the past three years including an eight-goal, six-assist performance in 2011.  Fellow senior Heather Marik will anchor the Clemson back line in 2012, after starting every game on defense for the Tigers the past three seasons.

Sophomore Liska Dobberstein, a member of the 2011 ACC All-Freshman Team, and junior Vanessa Laxgang also return for the Tigers.  Dobberstein and Laxgang ranked second and third, respectively, on the team in scoring last season.

Alabama posted a 10-9-3 overall record in 2011 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.  Alabama is under the leadership of Todd Bramble, who was the head coach at Clemson from 2001-07.  Former Tiger Tatum Clowney (1998-2001) is an assistant coach on the Crimson Tide staff.
