Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Face Belmont on the Road Friday Night

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will play its first road game of the 2010 season on Friday night against Belmont University. The game between the Tigers and the Bruins will kick off at 8:00 PM ET at Whitten Soccer Complex in Nashville, TN.

The Tigers are 2-0 after opening the 2010 season with wins over Presbyterian College (4-0) and Jacksonville (3-1) last weekend at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson is led in scoring by sophomore forward Maddy Elder, who tallied three goals and one assist for seven points in two games last weekend.

Freshman forwards Jackie Dutton and Lauren Arnold posted 12 saves and gave up just one goal in 164 minutes in the net in the first two games of her Tiger career.

Belmont is 0-1 on the young season after falling to Southeast Missouri State in double overtime by a score of 2-1 on the road last weekend. The Bruins are led in scoring by Erica Carter, who scored the team’s lone goal in the loss to the Redhawks. Sari Lin has posted five saves and Nicole Berner recorded one save in goal for the Bruins.

Friday’s contest will be the first meeting between Clemson and Belmont on the soccer field.
