Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Conclude Season on the Road in Chapel Hill, NC Thursday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will travel to Chapel Hill, NC on October 29 for its final game of the 2009 season. The Tigers will take on the sixth-ranked Tar Heels in a 7:00 PM contest at Fetzer Field on Thursday.

Clemson is 3-14 overall and 0-9 in the ACC. In their most recent action, the Tigers fell to eighth-ranked Boston College on Sunday, October 25 by a score of 5-0 at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson has faced seven teams ranked in the top 25 nationally this season, including four teams ranked in the top 13 in the nation in its last six games.

Freshman forward Lily Boleyn and sophomore forward Tara Cort rank in a tie for second on the team in scoring with four points apiece. Junior Paula Pritzen has played over 1,488 minutes in goal and has recorded 80 saves on the season.

North Carolina has a 12-3-1 overall record and a 5-3 record in ACC play, most recently falling to Miami on Sunday, October 25 by a score of 1-0 in Coral Gables, FL. Jessica McDonald leads the Tar Heels in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Ashlyn Harris has 29 saves and has given up just eight goals in over 1,208 minutes in the net for North Carolina.

The Tar Heels have a 22-1 record all-time in the series between the two teams. The only Tiger win was a 2-1 victory at Historic Riggs Field on September 13, 2000, the same year that Clemson won the ACC regular season title. Last season, the Tigers fell to the then-third-ranked Tar Heels by a score of 5-2 in Clemson, SC.
