Chapel Hill, NC. — Alyssa Ramsey and Catherine Reddick each scored two goals and had one assist to pace the No. 1 North Carolina women’s soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Clemson before 2,267 fans at Fetzer Field Friday night.

Ramsey got the Tar Heels on the board in the sixth minute with her fourth goal of the season as she bent a ball into the lower right corner past Clemson goalkeeper Lauren Whitt. Both O’Reilly and Lindsay Tarpley assisted on the goal.

Clemson countered and tied the game at the 19 minute mark as Paige Ledford one-timed a cross from Courtney Foster into the lower left corner of the goal. Sarah Turner earned the second assist on the Clemson tally.

Just 1:10 after the Lady Tigers’ goal, UNC took the lead after a foul near the midfield line. Reddick served a ball deep into the box that was headed on by Ramsey past Whitt for her fifth goal of the season. Just over three minutes later it was quickly 3-1 Carolina as O’Reilly finished off a chance that started with Ramsey’s corner kick which was fed into the box by Kacey White, leading to O’Reilly’s fourth goal of the season on a header at the far post.

In the 53rd minute of play, Ramsey was taken down in the box by Whitt. Reddick then stepped up and powered the penalty kick past Whitt into the lower right corner for her second goal of the match.

At 62:55, UNC increased its lead to 5-1 as White intercepted a ball at the top of box and powered a shot into the upper left corner for her fourth goal this season. UNC finished off the scoring at 77:41 as O’Reilly made a run up the middle of field and fed Reddick on the right side of the area.
