Clemson Women’s Golf Team 13th in Latest GolfWorld Coaches Poll

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson’s all-freshman women’s golf team is ranked 13th in the latest Golf World WGCA Coaches Poll. J.T. Horton‘s team is in its first year of varsity competition and has two second-place finishes and a fifth-place for its three events so far this year.

Southern California, the defending NCAA Champion, is ranked first with 537 poll points, including 13 first place votes, while cross town rival UCLA is second with 498. Oklahoma State is third followed by their top rival Oklahoma.

Duke is the top ACC school in the ranking with a fifth-place standing. Alabama is sixth, followed by Arizona State, Arkansas, Arizona and Stanford. Washington is 11th followed by NC State, Clemson, Florida and North Carolina.

Clemson has played a tough schedule so far this year. The Tigers have competed against 11 of the top 25 schools in the nation so far this year, including fifth ranked Duke, sixth ranked Alabama and seventh ranked Arkansas.

Clemson has been led by freshman Ashlan Ramsey, who has won two tournaments and finished second in her three starts. She has shot under par in eight of nine rounds and is 20-under-par for the year. She was the ACC Golfer of the Month for September.

Clemson will play its final tournament of the fall October 25-27 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, NC in the Landfall Tradition.
