CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s cross country team competed at the Furman Invitational Saturday morning, finishing eighth with 204 points. UNC Asheville won the meet with 57 points, followed by Georgia with 61 points and host Furman (82 points). Winthrop placed fourth with 107 points, Kennesaw State University was fifth (109 pts.), East Tennessee State placed sixth (144 pts.) and Mercer tallied 187 points for seventh place. The Lady Tigers accumulated 204 points to finish eighth, Brevard College was ninth (216 pts.), while Queens University and Wofford placed 10th with 294 points each.
The Lady Tigers were led by freshman Casey Phillips who placed 18th among collegiate runners, covering the 5K course in 19:41.3. Laura Ann Rukat placed 30th with a time of 20:33.3, and Jennifer Barton finished 44th (21:19.3). Jennifer Hooten recorded a time of 21:35.2 to finish 51st, while Evan Ross completed the course in 23:47.5 to place 67th.
Clemson returns to action on Nov. 2 as the Lady Tigers travel to Atlanta to compete in the ACC Championships.
