Clemson Women’s Basketball Defeats Anderson, 69-51, in Monday Exhibition

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball team took down Anderson University, 69-51, in a Monday exhibition game. The Tigers led throughout the game, stretching their lead to as many as 21 in the second half. Clemson opens the season on Nov. 13 against Furman at 5:30 pm in a doubleheader with men’s basketball in Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson outscored Anderson 40-16 in the paint, led by Shaniqua Pauldo’s 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Lindsey Mason also added ten rebounds to go along with seven points. The Tigers used their size advantage to force 18 turnover while only committing eight of their own. For the game, the Tigers scored 22 points of turnovers, while only allowing two. Clemson held Anderson to 15-50 shooting, or 30.0%, while shooting 42%.

Free throw shooting kept the Trojans in the game, as they attempted 31 to Clemson’s nine in the game. Freshman Keyrra Gillespie effectively ran the offense, notching nine assists in 27 minutes of play. April Parker, one of the Tigers’ most consistent players, had 14 points and five rebounds. Sthefany Thomas also had 12 points and five boards for the Tigers.

Senior All-ACC player Lele Hardy dressed but did not play in the game.
