Clemson Women Take Third at Pre-Nationals White Division Race

CLEMSON, SC – Behind a sixth-place showing from sophomore Roland Hakes, the Clemson men’s cross country team finished third Saturday in the white division race at the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, IN. The competition, held at the same course that hosts the NCAA Championships next month, spanned an 8K distance at the LaVern Gibson course.

Hakes led the Tigers individually for the third time this season in four meets. The native of Irmo, SC ran to a time of 24:56.35. Clemson also received top-35 performances from both Stephen Lewandowski (30th, 25:40.36), Aaron Ramirez (32nd, 25:45.15) and Josh Davis (35th, 25:49.27). The final scorer in Clemson’s lineup Saturday was sophomore Travis Christenberry, who finished 46th after composing a time of 25:57.21.

The women’s team was also in action Saturday. Clemson finished 19th out of 35 teams. The top performer was freshman Grace Barnett for the second time this season. The Myrtle Beach, SC product posted a time of 21:51.69 and placed 29th individually. The next best scorer for the Tigers was Alexa Womack in 46th place (22:01.18). Holding down the final three scoring positions for Clemson on Saturday were Catherine Herring (100th), Brianna Blanton (138th) and Evie Tate (171st).

The teams return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 at the ACC Cross Country Championships in Kernersville, NC.
