College Park, MD – Patricia Mamona’s effort in the triple jump highlighted the Clemson women’s track & field team on the final day of competition at the ACC Outdoor Championships. The meet was won by Virginia Tech (also 2007 ACC indoor champs) with 144.5 points. The Lady Tigers finished eighth with 47.5 total points.
In total, four student-athletes from Clemson earned All-ACC honors throughout the week. The honorees were Della Clark (hammer throw), Linda Buchholz (javelin throw), and Liane Weber (heptathlon).
Mamona earned her second all-conference accolade of the 2007 season after a runner-up showing in the triple jump Saturday. She was also an indoor All-ACC honoree in the triple jump. She hit a mark of 42’1.25″, her outdoor personal best. That measurement ranks fourth on the Lady Tigers’ all-time performance list in the outdoor triple jump. Nakeisha Wineglass was ninth Saturday in the event with a mark of 39’11.5″.
Polly Hardy and Krystal Barringer scored a combined six points for the team in the high hurdles. Hardy posted a time of 13.63 and was fifth overall, while Barringer placed seventh at 13.88. Both scored indoors in the high hurdles as well.
In the 4x400m relay, Clemson placed eighth overall with a season-best time of 3:46.33. The group consisted of Ope Sobanjo, Hardy, Patrice McMillan.
The Lady Tigers return to action next week at the prestigious Penn Relays.
