Clemson Will Play #2 North Carolina Friday Night at Historic Riggs Field

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s soccer team will play host to second-ranked North Carolina Friday night at Historic Riggs Field. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Clemson has a 5-10-1 record overall and a 2-5 mark in the ACC. North Carolina has a 12-2-2 record overall and a 4-2-1 mark in league play.

As an added attraction, youth wearing a soccer jersey from their respective team will be admitted free.

Both teams will participate in the annual conference tournament next week at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.

North Carolina is led in scoring by Billy Schuler. He has seven goals and d three assists for 17 points. Schuler is one of six Tar Heels with at least six goals on the season.

This will be the 53rd meeting between Clemson and North Carolina. The Tigers lead the overall series 27-19-6. The Tigers have won the last two home matches with the Tar Heels, 2006 and 2008.

Clemson has won three straight matches, including a 1-0 victory at No. 11 NC State last weekend. The Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Longwood Tuesday.

Nathan Thornton and Austin Savage pace Clemson with six goals each.
