RALEIGH, NC – The Clemson volleyball team defeated NC State 3-0 (30-16, 30-16, 30-21) on Saturday night in Reynolds Coliseum. The Tigers improve to 11-6 on the season and 1-1 in ACC play, while NC State falls to 6-10 overall and 0-3 in conference action.
The Tigers dominated the first game by a score of 30-16, as Leslie Finn hit a perfect 1.000 with nine kills in nine attempts and two service aces. Liz Beckham added four kills with three digs, while Ryane Beasley and Lori Ashton tallied three kills each. Lindsey Abbott recorded three digs, and Stephanie Haskell handed out 17 assists. The Wolfpack were led by Julia Reis with three kills and two service aces, while Maya Mapp and Adeola Kosoko added two kills each. Crystal Shannon recorded four assists, and Melissa Rabe had three assists. As a team, the Tigers outhit the Wolfpack .516 to .138 with Clemson posting 20 kills to NC State’s nine.
Clemson won game two by a score of 30-16, behind Finn’s five kills and three service aces. Ashton posted five kills with a .667 hitting percentage and one block, while Beckham tallied four kills with two digs. Haskell recorded 12 assists with two digs, and Abbott had two digs. NC State’s Mapp led the team in game two with four kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Rabe tallied three digs with eight assists, and Caroline Frede tallied three digs. The Tigers recorded a .336 hitting percentage, while the Wolfpack hit .033 in game two. Clemson posted six service aces as a team.
The Tigers took game three 30-21, as Finn tallied six kills with nine digs and a .250 hitting percentage. Beasley had six kills with a .286 hitting percentage and one block, and Kiki Dallao and Beckham had two kills each. Abbott recorded six digs, and Haskell had 16 assists with three digs and one block. The Wolfpack was led by Adeola Kosoko with two kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Reis tallied a game-best 13 digs, while Fred tallied six digs. Shannon recorded six assists with three digs and one block.
On the night, Finn led all hitters with 20 kills, five service aces, 13 digs and a .545 hitting percentage. Ashton added nine kills with one block, while Beckham tallied 10 kills with seven digs. Beasley recorded nine kills with four service aces, and Abbott had 11 digs. Haskell handed out a match-best 45 assists with six digs and one block.
NC State was paced by Mapp with seven kills and a .294 hitting percentage, while Reis tallied six kills with a match-best 14 digs two service aces. Rabe recorded 11assists with four digs, while Shannon tallied 10 assists, with four digs. Frede had 10 digs for the match.r
The Tigers return to action next weekend, as they play host to Virginia and Maryland on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, respectively. Clemson will take on Virginia on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and will play Maryland on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in Jervey Gym.
