Clemson Volleyball Falls To #13 North Carolina, 3-0

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to #13 North Carolina (30-27, 30-26, 30-25) Saturday night in Carmichael Auditorium. North Carolina improves to 23-2 overall and 9-1 in the ACC, while the Tigers fall to 15-12 and 6-6 in conference action.

Senior Jessi Betcher recorded her 5000th career assist in tonight’s match. She tallied 53 assists against NC State last night and added 46 assists against the Tar Heels. She is Clemson’s career leader in assists with 5,016 and she also ranks first in assists per game. The Boulder, CO native ranks eighth on the ACC career assist list.

Sophomore Leslie Finn led the Tigers with 15 kills and a match-best .483 hitting percentage. Sophomore Lori Ashton posted double-digit kills with 13 and a .476 hitting percentage, and sophomore Ryane Beasley recorded 10 kills and seven digs. Junior Lindsey Abbott led the Tigers in digs with 18, while Betcher tallied 11 defensive saves.

Laura Greene posted a match-best 22 kills, 14 digs and hit .404 for the night. Holly Strauss tallied 12 kills, a match-high .455 hitting percentage and four blocks, while Molly Pyles recorded 14 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Eve Rackham handed out 55 assists and tallied four blocks (one solo).

The Tigers will travel to Atlanta, GA on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
