Clemson Volleyball Defeats NC State, 3-0

CLEMSON, S.C. -The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 13th nationally, defeated NC State 3-0 (16-14, 15-4, 15-8) Tuesday night at Jervey Gym. The Tigers pushed their winning streak to 15 matches, tying the Clemson record set during the 1992 season.

Clemson took an early lead in game one before NC State battled back to tie the match at 14 points apiece. The Tigers took the next two points to win game one, then outhit the Wolfpack .333 to .000 for a 15-4 victory in game two. After several sideouts with Clemson leading 12-8 in game three, the Tigers pulled away for the 15-8 win.

Senior Alison Coday had 21 kills, six errors and 32 attempts for a .469 hitting percentage. She added ten digs and three service aces for the Tigers. Senior Cindy Stern hit .438 with 18 kills, four errors and 32 attempts. Stern also added ten digs.

Sophomore Jodi Steffes had nine digs and seven kills, while senior Emily Gorla recorded four kills and three digs. Freshman setter Jessi Betcher led the team with 51 assists, and tallied eight digs and five kills. Junior defensive specialist Heidi Cooper added seven digs, one kill and one assist.

Clemson (15-0, 4-0 ACC) will play host to Florida State Friday night at 6 p.m. This Tigers will face North Carolina Saturday at 5 p.m. in Jervey Gym, in a match that was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. NC State drops to 10-11, 1-4 ACC with the loss.

Clemson’s match at Georgia Tech last Friday will be televised this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on SportSouth.
