Clemson Travels North to Take on Davidson and VMI on Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s diving team will travel to Davidson, NC on Saturday at 1:00 PM to compete against Davidson and VMI. It will be the first road meet for the Tigers this season.

“We have had a great week of training and the ladies are poised and focused for our meet at Davidson,” said Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams. “We are looking forward to a road trip and the opportunity to compete outside of the comfort of our facility.

“I am anxious to see who is going to be the stand out performer, the inspiration, and the person who is going to be a driving force for the team. That is my challenge to the ladies!”

Clemson will compete against Davidson for second time in as many seasons. Last season, the Tigers hosted the Wildcats in the inaugural home meet for the women’s diving program.

In that meet, the Tigers took the top three spots in the one-meter event with all three qualifying for NCAA Zones. In the three-meter event, Clemson took four of the top five spots with all four also qualifying for NCAA Zones. Megan Helwagen recorded the highest one-meter score by a Tiger last season with a 286.50 in that meet.

Clemson opened the 2013-14 season last Saturday with a strong showing against Georgia Southern and Richmond. Chelsea Uranaka won the three-meter event and finished fourth in the one-meter. Helwagen took first in the one-meter while Juliana Melchionda and Emily Howard each had strong outings as well.

Overall, the Tigers took three of the top five spots in three-meter dives while claiming the top six spots in the one-meter event in the season-opening meet.

Live scoring for the meet will be available here.
