Clemson Third after First Round of Furman Invitational

Clemson, SC – Corbin Mills fired a two under par 70 to lead Clemson to a one under par 287 team score and a third place standing out of 22 teams after the first round of the Furman Invitational in Greenville, SC. The event is being played over the weekend at the par 72 Furman University Course.

Clemson will tee off between 8:20 and 9:00 AM on Saturday. There is no admission charge.

Mills had an efficient round with three birdies and just one bogey and the sophomore stands in eighth place individually after the first round. The individual leader is Will

iam Sjaichen of Purdue, who shot a seven under par 65.

Jacob Burger and Thomas Bradshaw each had rounds of even par 72 to support Mills. Burger had two birdies and two bogeys, while Bradshaw had a wild round with six birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey. The freshman who was playing in just his second tournament, played the back nine in two under par.

Crawford Reeves, who finished fourth in this tournament last year as an individual, had a 73 in the first round. The native of Greenville had three birdies and four bogeys.

McCuen Elmore played the front nine in two under par 34, but played the back nine in five over and finished with a three over par 75.

Kennessaw State is the team leader with a six under par 282, while Virginia Tech is second at 285. Clemson is third with a 287 score and East Carolina is fourth at 288.
