CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson’s Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams were named to the Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America All-American Teams for the Spring 2009 semester, according to collegeswimming.com. Teams had to have a GPA of 3.0 or above to be considered. The Women’s Swimming and Diving team ranked eighth in the nation with a 3.48 GPA, the highest GPA at Clemson for the spring semester and fifth highest ever. The Men’s Swimming and Diving team was ranked 36th with a 3.09 GPA.

“I am proud of the women’s team being honored with the 8th highest team GPA ranking in the nation,” said Head Coach Christopher Ip. “It was one of our team goals to be a top 10 school in the country this season. It is important for us to build a sound program following the University and Athletic Department mission and vision for our student-athletes.”

CSCAA also released their Scholar All-Americans Wednesday. Clemson’s Women’s Swimming and Diving team had three members named Scholar All-Americans and four honorable mentions. The selections are based on GPA along with performance at the NCAA Championships. Seniors Rachel Regone, Michelle Parkhurst, and Lauren Sindall were named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.
