Clemson Swimming And Diving Falls to Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Clemson swimming and diving teams were defeated by the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Aquatic Center. The women’s team fell to 3-4 overall while the men’s team fell to 4-3 overall.

The Alabama women’s team won 11 events en route to their 136-105 victory over the visiting Tigers. Clemson’s Emily Hustead was the only dual winner for the Tigers, claiming the 1000 free (10:21.20) and 500 free (5:03.91). Meaghan Murphy set a season-best time for Clemson in the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.01.

On the men’s side, the Tide won nine events to capture the 137-100 win over Clemson. Craig Thomas won both the one-meter (203.40) and three-meter (195.80) diving events to lead the Tigers. Rob Kummer claimed the 200 fly (1:52.36) while Mark Henly won the 200 back in his best performance of the season (1:49.74) edging teammate German Martinez who also posted his best time of the season (1:49.84).

The Tigers wrap up their home slate this Saturday, Jan. 27, as they host ACC rival North Carolina State. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at McHugh Natatorium.
