Clemson Splits To Philadelphia And Georgia

CLEMSON, S.C. – This weekend Clemson will split its squad as Tigers will compete in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Penn Relays and in Athens, Georgia at the Georgia Invitational. The Penn Relays will take place Thursday through Saturday while the Georgia Invitational is only slated for Saturday, April 30.

Clemson is heading into the weekend with a lot of momentum as the Tigers have been firing on all cylinders the last three weeks. Headlining Clemson’s efforts are head coach Mark Elliott’s mid-distance runners.

Last week Ersula Farrow turned in the best race of the weekend with nearly a two-second personal best to better position her with the third best outdoor 800 meter time in program history as a freshman. The Detroit, Michigan native clocked in at 2:04.82, ranking her 17th in the nation and placing her fifth behind LSU’s Morgan Schuetz and three professionals.

Finishing right behind Farrow in sixth place was Brianna Blanton with the fourth best time in Clemson history. Her time of 2:06.55 continues her streak of five-straight meets running a personal best.

On the men’s side, John Lewis continued to stand out with a time of 1:48.66 placing him third in the 800 meter run. The time is just shy of his personal best 1:49.19, which stands as Clemson’s outdoor freshman record. Lewis also holds the indoor freshman record.
