Clemson/South Carolina Now Underway

NOTE: The game is now underway after a lightning delay of 1 hour and 39 minutes.

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team, ranked 19th nationally by Soccer America, travels to South Carolina Tuesday night, Sept. 2. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium and will be broadcast on WatchESPN.

The Tigers got their season underway Friday, Aug. 29, against Radford at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson was victorious 1-0 thanks to a goal from sophomore Thales De Mello Moreno in the 86th minute. After three exhibition contests, South Carolina kicked off its season with a 1-0 double-overtime win over Belmont, also on Friday night.

Tuesday night’s contest will be the 42nd meeting between the instate rivals, with Clemson leading the all-time series 24-16-1. Last season’s clash in Tigertown produced an instant classic, with Clemson proving victorious (2-1), thanks to a goal scored by Moreno early in the second overtime period.

The game against South Carolina is the first of five consecutive road matches for the Tigers. They return home on Wednesday, Sept. 17 to host Gardner-Webb.
