Clemson Rowing Wins Seven of Nine Races Saturday

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Clemson rowing team competed in the SoCal Challenge Saturday where Clemson won seven out of nine races, the most by any team on the day. The event featured teams from Clemson, UCLA, USC and Notre Dame.

The Tigers’ Varsity Eight fell to UCLA in the morning session as the Bruins finished with a time of 6:53.10 while Clemson finished in a time of 7:06.49. The Varsity Eight had Clemson’s only other loss, as USC won in the afternoon session with a time of 7:17.38 over the Tigers’ 7:27.19.

Clemson’s Second Varsity Eight took to the water against UCLA and got the win in a time of 6:50.90 as the Bruins finished in a time of 6:52.49. Then in the afternoon session, they competed against USC and won in a time of 7:35.43 over the Trojans’ 7:39.99.

The Tigers’ Varsity Four crew continued their strong spring season as they defeated UCLA in the morning. Clemson put in a time of 7:40.30 and the Bruins finished in a time of 7:42.46. They then won against USC in the afternoon, as Clemson came in with a time of 8:36.95 to USC’s 8:52.48.

Clemson’s Novice Eight took the win over UCLA with a time of 7:04.90 compared to the Bruins’ 7:09.34. The Tigers’ then took the win over USC in the afternoon by over six seconds as Clemson finished in a time of 8:06.80 to the Trojans’ 8:12.92.

The Tigers’ Second Varsity Eight also had a win on the day as they defeated the Second Varsity Eight boats of USC and UCLA. Clemson finished in a time of 7:50.76, the Trojans took second in a time of 7:57.82 and UCLA took third in a time of 8:08.55.

Clemson will have a week off as they prepare for the ACC Championships that will take place on Saturday, April 24 at 9:00 a.m. at Clemson, SC on Lake Hartwell.
