Clemson Rowing to Compete in the Buckeye Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger rowing team will travel to Columbus, OH, on April 13 to compete in the Buckeye Invitational on Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River. Clemson will compete against four major programs, including three teams ranked in the top 20 of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Poll.

During the morning session the Tigers will compete against #10 Michigan and Cincinnati, and in the afternoon session Clemson will race against #14 Michigan State and #20 Texas. The morning session will begin at 9:00 a.m., while the afternoon session will start at 1:00 p.m. The races will include the second novice 8+, novice 8+, second varsity 4+, varsity 4+, second varsity 8+ and varsity 8+.

Last weekend, the Tigers competed in the San Diego Crew Classic. The Tigers’ second varsity 8+ posted a second-place finish in the junior varsity 8+ race on Saturday to qualify for the grand finals. In the grand finals race, Clemson finished fifth in 6:55.54, just .53 seconds behind Ohio State. In day one of the Jessop-Whittier Cup competition, the Tigers’ varsity 8+ boat qualified for the petite finals. On Sunday in the petite finals, Clemson completed the course in 6:53.87 for a fourth-place finish.

Following this weekend’s race the Tiger rowing team will play host to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on Lake Hartwell.
