Clemson Releases 2006 Baseball Radio Announcers

Feb. 8, 2006

Clemson released the radio announcers for Tiger baseball during the 2006 season on Wednesday. Don Munson will be the play-by-play announcer on all 36 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts, which includes all 30 ACC regular-season games, four games against South Carolina, and both games against Georgia. Munson is in his third year calling Tiger baseball games.

Color commentator Bob Mahony, who has been a part of Clemson baseball broadcasts for the past 16 seasons, will call the two games against South Carolina in March, along with home ACC series against N.C. State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Florida State.

“Due to my responsibilities with IPTAY and our annual fundraising efforts, my desire to make the IPTAY Representative Program the nation’s best, and the opportunities presented to be a part of the Capital Campaign for the WestZone and other athletic facilities, I will not be able to handle the same number of games as the color commentator for Clemson baseball in 2006 as in the past,” said Mahony, IPTAY Associate Executive Director.

Clemson Sports Information Director Tim Bourret will be the color commentator during the Tigers’ first-ever meeting against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA from April 21-23.

The other 19 Clemson Tiger Sports Network broadcasts will feature Dan Scott as the color commentator, which includes ACC series at Virginia, Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, and Duke along with the final ACC series at home against Wake Forest. He will also call midweek games against Georgia (2), South Carolina (2).

The other 20 regular-season games that will not be carried by Clemson Tiger Sports Network will be broadcast exclusively by Scott and WCCP (104.9 FM) out of Clemson. Its schedule includes games against James Madison (3), Mercer (3), College of Charleston (2), William & Mary, Kansas (3), Gardner-Webb, Elon (2), Western Carolina (2), Winthrop, Furman, and Wofford. Therefore, Scott will be a part of 39 broadcasts during the regular season.

Munson and Scott will team up for all of the Tigers’ postseason games on Clemson Tiger Sports Network. The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each contest, and will have comments and strategies from Clemson Head Coach Jack Leggett. The games are subject to be tape delayed based on schedule conflicts with Tiger basketball games.
