Clemson Ranked Number-one in Both Golf Polls

Larry Penley’s Clemson golf team remains number-one in the nation in both college polls this week. The Tigers are number-one in the Precept Coach’s poll for the third straight ranking. The Tigers are number-one for the sixth straight week this spring according to the Golfweek/Sagarin computer ranking.

Individually, Clemson has three of the top 16 players in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Senior D.J. Trahan is ranked first among Tigers and second in the nation with 68.78 rating points. Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt is first. Clemson junior Matt Hendrix is 12th in the ranking with a 69.63 figure, while sophomore Jack Ferguson is 16th at 69.82.

Gregg Jones is a fourth Tiger in the top 40 in the nation. The junior who was a second-team All-American last year, is 39th at 70.82. Trahan is also ranked first in the Golfweek/Titleist men’s amateur rankings this week with 260 points. Hunter Mahan of Oklahoma State and Ricky Barnes of Arizona are second and third, respectively.

Former Clemson All-American Dillard Pruitt is ranked 15th in the latest amateur rankings.
