KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Clemson men’s soccer team returned to the Top 5 of the United Soccer Coaches national poll earlier today by being named the nation’s third-ranked team. Last week, the Tigers defeated both Wake Forest and Duke by a 2-1 score. Clemson is one of four ACC schools to be included in this week’s poll.

This is the fourth time this season that the Tigers have been ranked within the top five and the third time ranked as the nation’s No. 3 team. Clemson’s highest ranking of the season was achieved in the first poll of the year, where the Tigers claimed the second position.

Earlier today, three Tigers received national recognition for their outstanding play across last week’s pair of matches. Kimarni Smith was named the National Player of the Week by College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com. The honor comes one day after Smith was named the ACC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week. James Brighton was named to College Soccer News’ National Team of the Week, while Oskar Agren was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week.
The Clemson women’s soccer team joined the men’s squad by occupying the third position in the women’s Top 15 poll. The women improved one spot over their position in last week’s rankings and made it the third time this season in which they have occupied the poll’s third position.
