Clemson Lady Tigers in the Bahamas for Tilts with Nationally Ranked Teams

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – The Clemson Lady Tigers arrived in Nassau, the Bahamas on Sunday, just 16 hours after playing on Saturday in Clemson. Clemson (6-5) is in town for the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

Clemson will play two games while on the Island. Clemson plays #2/#3 Baylor (10-1) on Monday night at 8:15 PM, and takes on #24/rv Syracuse (8-0) at 8:15 pm on Wednesday before flying back to the states on Thursday.

It will be the first all-time meeting between Clemson and each school.

Clemson Quick Notes:

  • Head Coach Itoro Coleman is in her first season as a head coach. The 2000 graduate of Clemson was most recently at Penn State
  • The Lady Tigers won their 350th home game all-time with a 61-49 triumph over Presbyterian College
  • Defensively, Clemson has held seven opponents to 60 or fewer points this season, a feat they accomplished only four times all of last season
  • The Tigers rank 2nd in the ACC and ninth nationally in blocked shots (5.8 per game)
  • Clemson ranks 29th nationally with a +8.7 rebounding margin and ranks fifth in the ACC with 28.1 defensive rebounds per game
  • Clemson assistant and recruiting coordinator Yolett McPhee-McCuin is a native of Freeport, The Bahamas, and is the first Bahamian woman to play and coach at the NCAA Division-I level
  • Senior Jasmine Tate ranked tied for third with 8.7 rebounds per game; she has hit double-digits in rebounding five times this season
  • Bryelle Smith leads the ACC in minutes/game and ranks fourth in assists/game
  • Lady Tiger Offensive Coordinator Chris Long spent the 1999-00 season at Louisiana Tech with Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey. Long would go on to coach at Tech for ten seasons.
