Clemson Golfers Past, Present and Future in Top 10 at Palmetto Amateur

CLEMSON, SC – Four Clemson golfers from the past, present and future are in the top 10 after two rounds of the 36th annual Palmetto Amateur at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC. The four-day event on the par 70 course concludes on Saturday.

Corbin Mills, among the top amateur golfers in the nation this summer, had a second round 66 on Thursday and stands in second place at 134. He is just three shots out of the lead. Mills won each of his last two events, the US Public Links, and the Players Amateur.

John Engler (1997-01), who has had rounds of 67-69.

Bill Kennerly, who will be a freshman at Clemson this fall, is tied for sixth with a 138 score after rounds of 69-69 for the first 36 holes. Rising senior McCuen Elmore is in 16th place at 142 after consecutive rounds of 71. Clemson junior Crawford Reeves is at 144, tied with 2011 signee Stephen Behr, Jr, who had rounds of 71-73.

Clemson golfers have had great success at the Palmetto Amateur in recent years. Recent Tigers to win the event are Brian Duncan (2004), Ben Martin (2006) and Luke Hopkins (2007).
