Greensboro, NC – Incoming two-sport standout Spencer Adams added to his weekend credentials Saturday by winning the national championship in the 400m intermediate hurdles at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. Adams, who signed to play football and run track at Clemson, won the national title on Friday in the 110m high hurdles.
The Butler High School (Matthews, NC) product crossed the finish line Saturday afternoon with a time of 50.99 to edge Chance Casey of Dayton, TX at the finish line. With the win, Adams now has three national track championships to his credit as a senior. He previously won the 60m hurdles at the National Scholastic Indooor Championships during indoor season.
In the high hurdles, Adams easily won the second qualifying heat of the Friday afternoon, turning in a time of 13.69. He then advanced to the finals, where he ran a 13.75 into a slight headwind and ran away from the field to take the championship.
On the gridiron, he is listed as the #3 safety prospect in the nation by ESPN.com and played in the Under Armour All-Star Game his senior year. Adams is a four-star prospect according to both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
