Clemson Football Practice Report

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson held its last physical practice until Monday when the Tigers worked for nearly two hours on the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center. Clemson is preparing for its September 4 opener against North Texas.

“It was a good practice, better than yesterday,” said Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney. “It was a much better tempo than yesterday. We worked in shells. It was a practice that dealt about North Texas.”

Swinney talked to the team about the North Texas program after practice, including telling the team about the legendary defensive tackle Mean Joe Greene, who played at North Texas in the 1960s.

The day started for the Clemson team by listening to former agent Tank Black. It is part of Swinney’s agent education program.

The Tigers will hold the Beenie Bowl on Friday afternoon. The Beenie Bowl is a practice in the stadium in which the team goes through every possible situation that can occur during a game. The team will practice quick change of possession situations, intentionally taking a safety, different types of substitution situations and many other situations. They will also go through the pregame routine, including running down the hill.

The Tigers will meet on Saturday morning and then have Sunday off. The normal Monday practice schedule will begin on Monday evening when the Tigers have an early evening practice.
