Clemson Football Practice Report

Aug. 30, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – It is game week at Clemson and the Tiger football team was back at practice on Monday evening. The Tigers worked for 90 minutes in shells on the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center in perfect weather conditions. The Tigers are preparing for Saturday’s season opener with North Texas. The Tigers and Mean Green kick off at 3:30 PM. There are tickets available.

“We had a good energy practice,” said Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney. “We are looking to practice with purpose and I saw that tonight.” The Tigers were well rested as they had the Beenie Bowl last Friday night, had meetings but no practice on Saturday and Sunday was an off day. “We want a team full of students of the game, we want them to become tacticians of the game. Paying attention to detail is important.”

Swinney will comment at length on North Texas at his press conference on Tuesday. “They have had great success on offense and have an outstanding running back who will get our attention. They have a lot of returning players on defense, plus the addition of some junior college players. Those junior college players will be an unknown to some extent in our preparation.”

The Tigers will return to practice Tuesday for a full pads practice.

The only Clemson player in a yellow jersey on Monday was reserve tight end Drew Traylor, who is recovering from a sprained foot. He is expected to be back at practice on Tuesday.
