Chapel Hill, NC – North Carolina took advantage of 35 turnovers by Clemson and cruised to a 99-55 victory over the Lady Tigers. The #6/9 Tar Heels improved to 18-3 (6-2 ACC) with the win, while Clemson fell to 7-13 (1-7 ACC) on the season. The 44-point win was the largest margin of victory this season against Clemson. The win was the 400th for Sylvia Hatchell as North Carolina’s head coach.

The Tar Heels held a 45-30 lead at intermission, largely in part due to the play of freshman sensation Larkins. She hit 5-7 shots and 6-6 free throws for 16 points in the half. Her play overshadowed the efforts of Clemson freshman White, who tied her career-high with 10 points in the first half. She hit 5-6 shots, all in the paint. Julie Talley performed well in the half, shooting 2-2 from three-point range for eight points total. Lloyd added nine points and four steals in the opening period.
North Carolina held a slim 15-14 lead nearly eight minutes into the game, but put together a 14-3 scoring run. Fourteen turnovers hampered any effort by Clemson to stay in the game with the Tar Heels.
In the second half, Clemson surrendered 21 turnovers and shot just 9-34 from the field. Tasha Taylor finished with seven assists and four steals for Clemson.
The Lady Tigers have a quick turnaround, as they play host Sunday to a ranked Maryland Terrapin squad. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM from Littlejohn Coliseum.
