CHAPEL HILL, NC – In their second ACC game of the season, the Clemson Lady Tigers fell to the North Carolina Tar Heels, 72-47, on Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill, NC. With the loss, Clemson falls to 11-2 (1-1 ACC) while North Carolina improves to 12-1 (2-0 ACC).
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Lakeia Stokes with 16 points and in rebounding by Stokes and Julie Aderhold with 6 boards apiece. Stokes scored in double digits for the 11th time this season. Clemson shot 25.8% from the field.
Leah Metcalf and Camille Little led North Carolina in scoring. The Tar Heels were led in rebounding by La’Tangela Atkinson with 13 boards. The team shot 40.6% from the field.
North Carolina went into halftime ahead of the Lady Tigers, 42-33. In the first half, Clemson was led in scoring by Lakeia Stokes with 14 points, while North Carolina was led by Leah Metcalf with 11. Clemson shot 31% from the field to North Carolina’s 43.8%. The Lady Tigers were outrebounded in the first half, 26-19.
In Clemson’s next action, the Lady Tigers will play host to Florida State on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7 PM at Littlejohn Coliseum.
