Clemson Falls to No. 15 Ohio State 6-1

Columbus, OH — The 24th-ranked Clemson Men’s Tennis team fell to No. 15 Ohio State 6-1 on Saturday night at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The loss drops Clemson to 6-2 overall this season.

In doubles action, 17th ranked Nathan Thompson and Jarmaine Jenkins dropped their decision at number one doubles 8-1 to No. 38 Scott Green and Ross Wilson. Clemson was able to get a victory at number two doubles as Goran Sterijovski and Damiisa Robinson defeated Brenton Contini and Jeremy Wurtzman 9-7. The Buckeyes were able to take the doubles point, however, as Joey Atas and Dennis Mertens downed Brett Twente 8-3 at the number three position.

Clemson’s only point came in singles play at the number six position as freshman Nathan Thompson was taken down 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 by Atas. Robinson and Jenkins both won their first sets before falling to Chris Klingemann and Devin Mullings respectively.

With the loss, Clemson falls to 6-2 on the 2004 season. The Tigers return to action this weekend as they travel to West Point, NY to face West Point, Columbia, and Princeton.
