Oct. 12, 2004

Box Score

CLEMSON, SC–Courtney Foster scored three goals in leading Clemson to a 7-0 win over UNC-Asheville in a women’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Tuesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 9-5 overall while UNC-Asheville drops to 7-5-1 this season.

The Lady Tigers’ Paige Ledford also finished the night with four assists. This ties the school record for most assists in a single match. Jacquelyn Hines also finished the match with three assists and teammate Lydia Vandenbergh finished with two assists.

This was Foster’s second hat trick of her career, (three or more goals in a single game). Last year, Foster scored three goals against the College of Charleston on October 28, 2003.

Foster now has six goals this season, and that total ties for the team lead. The sophomore from Conyers, GA has one assist this season.

“I’m glad we carried over the momentum from the North Carolina game in tonight’s match,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. We played North Carolina on Saturday night and we go to Duke on Friday, so it would have been easy to overlook UNC-Asheville. I am proud of the team and we needed this type of game tonight. We are going to work hard and prepare for Duke.”

Clemson will play at 10th-ranked Duke on Friday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
