Clemson defeats St. John’s in men’s soccer exhibition at Akron Tournament.

CLEMSON, SC–David Bell scored early in the second overtime period in giving fifth-ranked Clemson a 1-0 win over 17th-ranked St. John’s in the opening game of the Akron Tournament at Akron, OH Friday evening.

Bell scored from 10 yards out on an unassisted goal at the 103:34 mark or 6:22 left in overtime. Clemson out shot St. John’s 12-10. The Tigers’ goalkeeper, Phil Marfuggi had three saves.

Clemson will play the winner of the Akron-Creighton match on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
