Clemson Defeats NC State, 3-0, In Women’s Soccer

CLEMSON, S.C. – Allison Graham had three assists as three different Clemson players scored in the Lady Tigers’ 3-0 win over N.C. State in an Atlantic Coast Conference women’s soccer match at Clemson, SC Friday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 7-2-1 overall, while N.C. State falls to 6-4-1 this season. It was the first conference match for Clemson. The Wolfpack is now 0-2 in league play.

Clemson scored first at the 19:01 mark. Kate Clifton scored from 12 yards out with assists by Allison Mitchell and Lydia Vandenbergh. It was Clifton’s first goal this year.

The Lady Tigers added the second goal of the night 5:21 later as Courtney Foster scored her sixth goal of the season. Graham was credited with the assist as she passed the ball to Foster in the middle of the field. Foster sent a 16-yard shot into the right side of the goal.

Graham’s free kick from the left went to the right side, deep in the penalty box. Sarah Turner fired a diagonal shot to the left wall of the net for her first goal of the season.

“I am happy with the win,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “It’s great to start the conference segment of the schedule with a win. We need to take care of business at home. I am happy with the play of our defense. Sarah Turner had a great game as did Jenny Anderson.”
