Clemson Defeats College of Charleston 8-1 in Exhibition Soccer Match

CLEMSON, SC- Fabio Tambosi scored three goals and Dimelon Westfield tallied two goals and two assists in leading eighth-ranked Clemson to an 8-1 win over the College of Charleston in a men’s soccer exhibition match at Clemson’s Riggs Field Friday night. The match consisted of three 40-minute periods. The match was the first exhibition match of the season for both teams.

Westfield, a junior college All-American last season at Harris College, and Tambosi were impressive all night up front and tallied a total of thirteen shots between them. Also adding goals for the Tigers were sophomore Steven Rhyne, who picked up two goals, and senior Ross Goodacre. Montae Seabrook picked up the lone goal of the match for Charleston. Along with Westfield’s two assists, Clemson got two assists from Ian Fuller and one assist from Paul Souders, Nick Rivera, Andre Borges, and Sean Rhynard. Doug Warren started in goal for the Tigers, but Martin Hutton and Patrick Fullerton also saw time in goal during the second and third periods.

Clemson will next be in action on Sunday, August 26 at 2:00 as they play host to the Under-17 National Team in the Tigers’ final exhibition match of the season.
