Clemson Claims Two Titles on First Day of Duckworth Fall Classic

CLEMSON, SC – Two Clemson doubles teams claimed flight titles on the first day of the Duckworth Family Fall Classic at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on Friday. Jessy Rompies and Joana Eidukonyte claimed the flight one doubles championship, and Ani Miao and Tristen Dewar won three matches to win the flight two title.  Singles play will begin Saturday in the flight tournament, which features 15 women’s teams. On Friday, it was the Tigers who stole the show with their strong doubles play. At flight two, Miao and Dewar ran through their three wins without dropping more than three games in any match.  Rompies and Eidukonyte won the flight one title with scores of 8-3, 8-6, and 8-5 in the three rounds, respectively.  In other action, Yana Koroleva and Beatrice Gumulya fell to Schutting and Chi of California in the backdraw of the ITA All-American in Pacific Palisades, CA.  Action at Hoke Sloan starts Saturday with at 9:00 am with two rounds of singles play.  Duckworth Results: F1 Rompies/ Eidukonyte (CU) def.
