Clemson Head Baseball Coach Jack Leggett announced the 2003 Tiger Baseball schedule Monday. The schedule includes two time changes from the previous release in September. The April 5 game against Virginia has been moved to a 5:00 PM start, while the exhibition game with Chukyo University of Japan on March 6 will begin at 4:00 PM. The 15th-ranked Tigers will open the season at #21 Auburn on Friday, February 21 at 4:00 PM EST.
Clemson Tiger Sports Properties, the official Clemson sports network, will broadcast 36 regular-season Clemson baseball games this season. It will broadcast all 24 conference games and 12 non-conference games, including all four games with South Carolina, two games each with Georgia and Furman, and one game each with Western Carolina, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, and Elon. The network will also broadcast all postseason contests, including all games the Tigers play in the ACC Tournament and in the NCAA Tournament.
The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each game and will have comments and strategies from Leggett. Jim Phillips, the “Voice of the Tigers” who is in his 13th season broadcasting Tiger baseball games, and Bob Mahony, who is in his 15th season providing color commentary, will head up the broadcast team in 2003.
Clemson baseball will be broadcast over the airways thanks to six affiliates, including WSC (730 AM) in Charleston, SC, WCCP (104.9 FM) in Clemson, SC, WPCC (1410 AM) in Clinton, SC, WAGI (105.3 FM) in Gaffney, SC, WCRS (94.1 FM) in Greenwood, SC, and WKDK (1240 AM) in Newberry, SC. Only WCCP in Clemson will carry all games.
Additionally, WCCP-FM (104.9) in Clemson will broadcast 17 games, giving Clemson a radio presence in 53 of its 56 regular-season games. Ed Jensen will handle the play-by-play duties for the “Super Sports FM.”
Fans out of range of the affiliates can hear live audio of every broadcast via Clemson’s official athletic website (www.clemsontigers.com). Livestats will be available on the website for all regular-season and postseason games as well. Fans can also hear postgame comments from Leggett approximately one hour following each game via TigerLine. The free service can be accessed by calling (864) 656-TIGER (8443).
